Traveling on a budget through Europe

Have you ever felt that you could not travel to Europe because of the cost? This article has been written to give you ideas on how to travel Europe while being on a budget.

Traveling on a budget

When it comes to taking a trip across Europe, many people think that such an adventure is outside their modest means. Nevertheless, the legions of academy students and others on shoestring budgets that come over to Europe every summer undermine this assumption. If these budget travelers can make Europe within their means, there is no reason you cannot as well.

Europe is actually quite a travel bargain in many ways, and if you select your lodging, meals and transportation cautiously a trip to Europe can actually cost a lot less than a week in some of the most expensive cities in the United States.

One of the main considerations of enjoying Europe on a budget is how to get around. When it comes to moving around, there are essentially three choices – the bus, the train and air travel. Renting a car is regularly impractical in Europe, with the different types of roads, different laws and road signs in a countless number of unfamiliar languages.

From now until the now until the end of this article, take the time to think about how all of this budgeting information can help you possibly take a trip to Europe without spending an enormous amount of money.

Europe’s intercity bus lines present passes, comparable to rail passes, that can be purchased for numerous lengths of time and which provide for infinite travel during those times. Single city to city bus tickets are regularly quite practical as well.

The key disadvantage of the bus system in Europe is that it is time-consuming compared to rail travel and air travel. In addition, there is inadequate legroom on most buses; few opportunities to stand up and stretch, and some buses do not have on board bathroom facilities.

For many people, the additional convenience of the train more than justifies the difference in price, and train passes are still quite reasonably priced for students and others on a budget. In addition to being faster, trains provide such amenities as bathrooms and also sleeping quarters on overnight trains. Be conscious of, however, that there is regularly an extra payment for sleeping cars and other first class accommodations, even for rail pass holders.

One choice that is overlooked by a lot of budget travelers is that of city to city air travel. In Europe, though, air travel is actually quite a price effective alternative to train and even bus travel. There are several outstanding low price air carriers all around Europe, and the fares they price are regularly comparable to, and in some cases even lower than train tickets among the same cities.

No matter how you get about, you will need a clean and secure place to lodge once you arrive at your destination. There are a number of outstanding low price lodging options in Europe, ranging from hostels to hotels to bed and breakfasts. Overall, hostels will be the most inexpensive option, but for groups of two, three or more it may be just as cheap, or even cheaper, to rent a small space at a budget hotel as an alternative.

For those who reach their destination with no reservations, there are hotel booking services on hand at most major train stations and airports. These booking services can generally find you a place to stay, even if the city is very full. For this service, they generally charge a slight fee, either an established fee or a percentage of the room charge.

Hopefully you have learned a little more on how a trip to Europe does not have to as costly as you may have thought. Take the time a see if you can form a budget to get you that Europe trip.

3 Little Known Tips To Saving Money On Beach Vacation Travel

Here’s a really simple way to save on beach vacation travel. We are going to show you 3 ways to save you some bucks when booking your next beach vacation. The beach is an incredible experience. No matter whether you’ve traveled to far western Australia or taken a quick weekend trip to the Jersey Shore, barring rain, the beach is usually a really enjoyable experience. We’ve taken trips all over the world we’ve missed giant opportunities of money savings that were seemingly all around us if we had just taken the time to do a little extra research. Well, you are in luck. The travel research has been done for you, all you have to do is be willing to keep reading. Before you know it, you’ll be taking the beach vacation of your life, for a steeply discounted price. Here we go:

1) Buy it used. Well, not really used: more like discounted (or unused actually). Sometimes, people can put their vacation opportunities up at real discounts. Did you know that there are all sorts of people out there who own time shares but can’t use them for various reasons? Maybe the season isn’t right, or they can’t seem to get the flight that they need. Ebay has a thriving market for timeshare opportunities. A lot of the listings are permanent (e.g. people looking for others to buy their times shares out completely), but sometimes people are just looking to monetize a weeks worth of timeshare that they can’t seem to use themselves. Their loss can be your opportunity. Ebay is an auction, and the highest price wins usually.

2) Compare everything. Guess what? Expedia and Orbitz seem like they are juggernauts of internet travel and they control a lot of the market. BUT, they don’t have every vendor available. A lot of the discount airlines like SouthWest and JetBlue don’t use either of these massive companies and you can only get their deals by going directly to their website. Don’t’ tell anyone, but from what we’ve heard JetBlue is supposed to have really nice seats and monitors on new planes with really good prices. We haven’t used JetBlue ourselves yet, but it’s supposed be really good (especially at delivering good value on Northeast to Florida routes). That tip alone could save you some bucks while getting you a really nice flight.

3) The first 2 points are perfectly valid in any trip planning but almost worthless when you consider that you might have to shell out a lot more bucks for destinations abroad. There is a beautiful beach state located not too far from anyone East of the Mississippi. That’s right. Florida. Florida is back and it’s beaches are still fantastic. Florida is still beautiful. There has been a lot of development of Florida during the last 50 years, but Florida is still a massive state with plenty of undiscovered beaches. The state of Florida can be great if you know where to look. It’s pretty nice. Trust us….the undiscovered spots of Florida can really be something else. However, they are becoming more and more difficult to find as thousands of people move to Florida every month.

Lower Your Travel Costs

Many of us choose to travel on a regular basis, and whether we are going away on a business trip or a family vacation, the costs can soon add up. In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need to watch the finances when we are going on the annual vacation but we do usually have to stick to a budget somewhere in proceedings. By saving money on the travel and the accommodation without compromising comfort and quality, though, it is possible to ensure you have more money for the vacation itself.

Booking time is a difficult factor to judge. If you’re planning a family vacation for you, your partner and three kids then it is unlikely you will want to risk a last minute deal. There is no guarantee you can find the vacation you want and readying so many people in such a short space of time would prove difficult even for the army. Booking well in advance can save you a good amount of money. When you return from one holiday, start thinking about your next. Even if the accommodation is no cheaper, booking flights and other travel expenses will invariably cost you less.

Only book what you need. If you intend to be sight seeing and traveling surrounding areas a lot then you don’t necessarily need a five star hotel will all your meals included. Self-catering apartments can be much more affordable than luxurious hotels and allow you the level of freedom you require from your vacation.

Remember that a vacation is still a vacation even without luxury. Camping trips can be true family adventure and if you’re really short of vacation budget then they are the best option. Caravans offer slightly more in the way of luxury and usually cost slightly less in the way of cash. Camping parks also tend to have entertainment, pools and parks for you and your kids to enjoy for free or very little money.

How To Save Money When Traveling

We all want to have a nice, relaxing vacation from time to time, if possible on a sunny beach in a foreign country. When we finally manage to get it, we find ourselves confronted with other issues – apart from the usual hotel reservations, flight, etc. When you travel to a foreign country, you feel the need to tell everyone back home how things are, assure them you’re alright and you’re having fun. Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy. And here’s why:

If you have a cell phone with you, you may surprisingly find that it’s not working properly, because the cell phone operator in the country that you’re in uses a different technology or you don’t have international calling activated. And if all the above doesn’t apply, you may find yourself in an area with poor or no network coverage at all…

If you don’t have your cell phone with you, the only thing left to do is to try to call from a local phone or from the hotel.

In both situations, you’re at a disadvantage, mainly because it involves huge costs – international calls are charged with much higher rates because of the technology involved and depending on the agreements between carriers and operators in different countries. Plus, hotels always charge you extra for using their lines.

So what’s the solution? It’s very simple – get a calling card before you leave. Nowadays, calling cards are the easiest and most affordable communication way when you’re traveling. When you buy it, you receive instantly a PIN number, access numbers from all international locations and dialing instructions. Most of the time, you’ll also have special local access numbers in cities across the world – you’ll get a lower rate when using them.

Plus, you can get a call back feature – meaning that not only you’ll be able to call home, but also your friends and family can call you back! And all this at a very low cost, enabling you to do more of the things you like during your vacation.
